The answer to your question is yes and no. It is true that an auto iris lens will work better than a manual iris lens in most situations. Having said that, you still need a camera that is rated at a very low lux or one that has an infrared illuminator. Other wise an auto iris lens will not help your situation
It’s will also depend on the whether your camera is black and white or color. A black and white security camera will generally perform better than a color camea under low light conditions.
We recommend using a black and white camera if you don’t have an abundant amount of light in the area you want to protect. If you have a street light nearby this should be enough for a low lux security camera to produce excellenct quality video
