Manny asked:
I’m looking for a “nanny cam” that is motion activated. Some body is stealing from me when I’m not home.

The thing is it can’t be noticable. I’ve been researching for a while now but can’t seem to find the right one. it. Is it better to use a wireless unit that records on my VCR or one that is has a built in recorder? There are so many options and I need help to make the right decision. Thanks!

CCTV Guide Says:
In our opinion there is only one solution to your situation. You need an all in one Nanny Camera with a built in DVR recorder. Here are a couple of reasons you don’t want to use a wireless nanny camera. First of all you will have to hook up the wireless reciever up to your VCR which is easy to find unless you have the VCR hidden as well.

When you hide the VCR you almost guarantee reception problems. There’s nothing worse than getting video of the break-in and seeing in interference running through it

If you have a motion activated VCR it is possible that the recording mechanism can be heard when it turns on and off. Also you are limited to the amount of recording on a VCR to the size of the tape. Usually about 6 hours.

On the other hand if you purchase a motion activated nanny camera with buit-in DVR then all you do is plug it in and arm the camera sysem. The video is recorded with in the nanny camera you never have to worry about interference or sounds of it stopping and starting because there are no moving parts.

Since it’s motion activated you don’t record if there is no motion. So you don’t have to worry about running out of tape like you do with a VCR.

About the only down side is cost. Right now they run around $700. If you do decide to go this route though you wont be sorry. Hope this helps you

Dummy Security Cameras

Dummy Security Cameras

Bill asked:

I’m thinking about installing cameras at my house. My wife and I are having a baby soon which will drain our extra cash What do you suggest we do. Should we purchase fakes security cameras or real ones to protect or family?

CCTV Guide says: Keeping your family safe should be your main objective. Although a full blown system can be costly to surround your house with security cameras, installing fake security cameras don’t completly solve your problem.

It would be awful to have something happen and not have real cameras recording the incident
We suggest that you purchase 1 or 2 cameras at first along with a few cheaper dummy cameras. Adding realistic dummy security cameras can be a great way to save some money while giving the appearance that your home is protected.

There are several companies that sell fake security cameras like the one shown at the top of this post that would not fool anyone. Spend a little more on some that are built to look like an actual security camera.

Once you have some extra cash go back and replace the dummy cameras with real ones. Good luck with your new addition
